Pune City has been an academic centre since one of India’s earliest modern educational institutions was established there in 1824.
The University of Pune has been awarded the highest grade by the independent National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) of India.
It was also honoured by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as a University with Potential for Excellence.
University of Pune has setup a campus in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) and is offering postgraduate programmes in March 2009.
